Vittorio Monti (6 January 1868 - 20 June 1922) was an Italian composer, violinist, mandolinist and conductor. His most famous work is his Csárdás, written around 1904. Monti was born in Naples, where he studied violin and composition at the Conservatorio di San Pietro a Majella. Around 1900 he received an assignment as the conductor for the Lamoureux Orchestra in Paris, where he wrote several ballets and operettas, for example, Noël de Pierrot. He also wrote a method for mandolin Petite Méthode pour Mandoline, 98049, in which he included some of his own works, Perle Brillante, Dans Una Gondola, and Au Petit Jour. There were also works by F. Paolo Tosti. In Paris, Monti was a significant figure in the Mandolin community, he created the La Stella, a group based around mandolin and guitar works and compositions. This group (under the name of "V. Monti") written several pieces and techniques for mandolin students, and started performances in 1908 to 1910. In 1910, Monti created a music journal called Le Mediator, the journal gave news and instructional guidance to help new mandolin and guitar players. However, this journal dissolved in 1913. He died in 1922.
"Csárdás" (or "Czardas") is a rhapsodical concert piece by the Italian composer Vittorio Monti. Written in 1904, the folkloric piece is based on a Hungarian csárdás. It was originally composed for violin, mandolin, or piano. There are arrangements for orchestra and for a number of solo instruments. "Csárdás" is about four-and-a-half minutes in duration. The piece has seven different sections, usually of a different tempo (and, occasionally, key). The first half of the piece is in D minor; it modulates to D major, then back to D minor, and then finally finishes in D major.

It is generally expected that the piece is performed with some rubato. There are also many dynamic changes, ranging from pianissimo to fortissimo. In the Meno, quasi lento section, the violin plays artificial harmonics. This involves the violinist placing their finger down on the note and playing another note, with the finger only just touching the string 5 semitones above. This gives the effect of the violin sounding two octaves (24 semitones) higher.

The violin score is missing most of section 9. The score jumps from section 8 to 1 measure before section 10. @5:00. I did a double-take there and thought I'd lost my place.

It is a masterpiece that can be rated n compared to Brahms ‘ D major op77 concerto , in both musical n technical perspective.
I totally disagree... It's not a masterpiece, maybe you could consider it an addition to the Romantic virtuoso repertoire at the same level as Monasterio's Violin Concerto or Saint-Saens's 2nd Violin Concerto. Brahms's plays in a clearly better league. That's the truth

Thanks so much for uploading. For "composer" in the description I would put Ray Chen. This is his orchestral arrangement/composition of the Australian folk-song.
As Ray Chen is not the original composer of this music, (that being done by Christina Macpherson back in the 1800's), he is correctly listed as the arranger of this version.
